Night market

A night market or night bazaar is a kind of weekly market in Asia, the evening takes regularly its operation. Night markets, both in urban centers are also suburban and usually sell food.

The best-known night markets are located in China and in regions such as Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan ( night markets in Taiwan ), Thailand (about Chiang Mai and Hua Hin ) and the Chinatowns all over the world. The larger ones are open plan and are located in market places, while the smaller ones usually are informal and have been independently developed on well-trodden roads.

Night markets are held in North America mostly during the occasion of Chinese culture, such as the Spring Festival. The Taiwanese Student Association Students of the University of Washington organized an annual night market in May. This spectacle leaves 2,000 people from the Pacific Northwest of America come together. In San Francisco, there is also such a night market every Saturday in the fall with around 100 stalls.

History

The Chinese night markets appeared for the first time in history around the year 836 in the Tang Dynasty on, when the Emperor Wen Zong (文宗, Wenzong ) adopted rules for those. These markets were frequented only by worse -off Chinese and were often located near a red-light district.
