Nightmare is the fifth studio album by the metal band Avenged Sevenfold, which was released on July 27, 2010 by Warner Bros. Records. In Germany, however, the album was released due to a label change of the band until a month later.

It was produced by Mike Elizondo and mixed in New York City by the sound engineer Andy Wallace. It is the last album with the drummer and founding member James " The Rev " Sullivan, who died in December 2009. Out of this was replaced by former drummer of Dream Theater, Mike Portnoy, the remaining songs that " The Rev " could no longer absorb, has recorded. He also went to the end of 2010 with Avenged Sevenfold on tour.
