Nihon University

The Nihon University (Japanese日本 大学, Nihon daigaku, in short: Nichidai (日 大) or NU) is one of the largest universities in Japan. Its headquarters is in Kudanminami, Chiyoda- ku, Tokyo.

The University now has 14 faculties ( students: approximately 68,000 ) and 20 graduate schools ( Students: 3,600 ).

History

The University was established in October 1889 by the Japanese Minister of Justice Yamada Akiyoshi (山田 顕 义, 1844-1892 ) as the Nihon Law School (日本 法律 学校, Nihon hōritsu Gakko ) was founded. She was a night school at Koten Kōkyūjo (皇 典 讲究 所, Research Institute of the Japanese classic, today: Kokugakuin ). In 1895 she began the new school building in today's Misakicho campus. In December 1898, she became an independent school in August 1903 and changed its name to Nihon Daigaku (Eng. " Nihon University "). In April 1920, she obtained university status.

Faculties

  • Faculty of Law ( in Misakicho Campus / Ōmiya - campus) Founded in 1889; the oldest faculty of the university. The main campus is Misakicho campus; Ōmiya the campus is for the newbies.
  • Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences Founded in 1901 as a department for middle school teacher training (高等 师 范科) Nihon Law School. 1924 founded the University of the Humanities Department. 1949 developed the department, the Faculty of Humanities. In 1958 she continued scientific courses and changed its name to the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences.
  • Faculty of Economics ( in Misakicho - campus) Founded in 1904 as the Department of Trade Science Nihon law school. In 1920, she became the Faculty of Commerce Science Nihon University. In 1934 she was renamed the Faculty of Economics. In 1957 she was divided into two faculties: Economics and Commerce Science.
  • Faculty of Commerce Science ( in Kinuta campus) Founded in 1904 as the Department of Trade Science Nihon law school.
  • Faculty of Arts ( in Ekoda Campus / Tokorozawa Campus ) Founded in 1921 as a department of aesthetics Nihon University. 1939 pulled the department in today's Ekoda campus. In 1949 she became the Faculty of Arts.

  • Faculty of Natural and Engineering Sciences ( in Surugadai Campus / Funabashi Campus ) Founded in 1920 as a Higher Technical School of Nihon University Foundation (日本 大学 高等 工 学校). In 1928, the University, the Faculty of Engineering. In 1958 she sat courses for physics and changed its name to Faculty of Natural sciences and engineering.
  • Faculty of Industrial Engineering (生产 工 学部, in Tsudanuma Campus / Mimomi - campus) Founded in 1952 as the Department of Industrial Management of the Faculty of Engineering. In 1965 she became the first Faculty of Engineering and in 1966 changed its name to the Faculty of Industrial Engineering.
  • Faculty of Engineering Founded in 1947 as a technical college department of Engineering. In 1949 she became the Second Faculty of Engineering. In 1966, they changed its name to the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Faculty of Medicine Founded in 1925 as a trade school department of medicine. In 1937 she moved to the present campus. In 1942 she became the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Faculty of Dentistry ( in Surugadai Campus ) Founded in 1916 as Toyo School of Dentistry (东洋 歯 科 医 学校, Toyo shika igakkō ). In 1921 she became the School of Dentistry, Nihon University Foundation (日本 大学 歯 科 医 学校). In 1952 she became the Faculty of Dentistry.
  • Faculty of Dentistry, Matsudo Founded in 1971 as a Dental College Matsudo Nihon University Foundation (日本 大学 松 戸 歯 科 大学, Nihon daigaku Matsudo shika daigaku ). In 1976 she became the Faculty of Dentistry Matsudo.
  • Faculty of Bioresources (English College of Bioresource Sciences, at Shonan Campus ) Founded in 1943 as the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. 1951, the former University of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry was Tokyo (东京 獣 医 畜产 大学, Tōkyō Jui Chikusan daigaku, founded in 1907 ) and Nihon University assembled. The faculty named in 1952 in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary around 2000 and then in the Faculty of Bioresources.
  • Faculty of Pharmacy Founded in 1952 as the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering. In 1988, she became the Faculty of Pharmacy.
