The station Niigata Daigaku -mae (Japanese新泻 大学 前 駅, dt " station before the Niigata University ") is a single-track maintenance of the Echigo Line of JR East in the district of Nishi in Niigata ( Niigata Prefecture ).

History

The station was built in 1984, almost 20 years after the opening of the Ikarashi campus of the University of Niigata, on the occasion of the complete electrification of the Echigo- line. Although the station is named after the University of Niigata, he is almost 3 km from the campus.

Method of construction

The station is located on a single-track section of the Echigo- line. Consequently, there is only one platform, which is located south of the route. The route runs on a railway embankment, so that access to the platform via two staircases in the east and west occurs and thus is not accessible. Access to the north, which also houses the University of Niigata is carried out via a pedestrian tunnel.

The platform is partially covered and has a lounge with a switch for the Schaffner, some drinks machines and a public toilet. Access to the platform is via three automatic entry barriers. Two ticket machines are available.

The station is located in a built up area loosened up, which is characterized by single family homes. Just south of the station is a small car park, north a bicycle parking lot. Within walking distance of bus routes (including the campus Niigata University ) are available, the drive but not the station directly.
