Niigata Prefecture

The Niigata Prefecture (Japanese新泻 県, Niigata-ken ) is a prefecture of Japan. It is located in the Chūbu region on the island of Honshu. The city is the seat of the eponymous Niigata prefectural government.

Niigata is famous for its excellent rice and, accordingly, for his sake.

History
