Nika Award

The Nika (Russian Ника ) is the most important Russian film award. It is awarded annually in Moscow since 1988, the trophy is a modern version of the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The Nika Awards encounters not only in Russia but also in many other states of the CIS on a lively media coverage.

History

The price was a child of the policy of glasnost. Stifter was the union of the filmmakers of the Soviet Union. First of all union members voted on the winners. Since the early 1990s, a selected jury is responsible for the selection of the winners.
