Nikaure

Nikaure was a prince of the ancient Egyptian 4th Dynasty. Presumably, during the reign of Pharaoh Menkaure, he held the post of vizier and was thus the highest official to the king.

Origin and family

The parents of the Nikaure can not be determined with certainty. Due to the location of his grave, he is generally regarded as the son of Pharaoh Khafre. When his mother is considered the queen Persenet because her grave is located directly next to his. Wife and Children of the Nikaure are known only through mentions in his grave. His wife's name was Nikanebti and was a priestess of the goddess Hathor and Neith. From this marriage four children: a son named Nikaure and two daughters named Hetepheres and Nikanebti; the attribution of the fourth child is not obtained.

Tomb

Nikaure heard the rock grave LG 87 on the Central Field in Giza. It consists of two main areas ( A and B) which lie behind one another. Room b is in contrast to a space extended to the west. West of a room branches off a smaller room, which was probably not envisaged in the original design concept and was only built later. From space b of two shafts lead to the sarcophagus chamber located underground. In it is an unmarked limestone sarcophagus.
