Nike Award

The Nike Literary Award ( Nagroda Literacka Nike ) is the most important literary award in Poland.

It is awarded every year since 1997 in the autumn of the same foundation in a public event for the best Polish book of the previous year. Main aim of the award is to promote Polish literature at home and abroad. Eligible are independent publications (without anthologies ) almost all genres, including autobiography, essays, and nonfiction (except scientific monographs ). The competition, to participate in the only living authors, in three stages. In May, a nine -member jury suggests 20 books, from those she chooses in September seven finalists, from the day of the ceremony in October again the winner of the award, which is endowed with 100,000 zloty. The winner receives an additional one created by sculptor Gustav žemľa Nike sculpture. Was donated to the price of the daily Gazeta Wyborcza and the company NICOM Consulting. In addition, the readers of Gazeta Wyborcza awarded an audience award at one of the seven finalists.
