Nikola Kalinić

Nikola Kalinic ( born January 5, 1988 in Solin ) is a Croatian football player. Since 2011 he is at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk under contract.

Career

Association

Kalinic began his career at Hajduk Split. For the 2005/06 season he moved on loan to NK Istra 1961. After half a year there, he was awarded to the HNK Šibenik. In the 2007 /08 season he again played for Hajduk Split.

In the summer of 2009 saw Kalinic for 7 million to the English first division club Blackburn Rovers.

After 2 years at Blackburn moved Kalinic to Ukrainian club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. The release was 6 million euros.

National

Kalinic completed three games for Croatia U21 national team, but failed to qualify for the U -21 Football Championship 2009, with his team. On 24 May 2008, he played his first game for the Croatian national football team as he came off the bench in the game against Moldova. He participated in the 2008 European Football Championship, and came there to use one, when he came off the bench in the match against Poland. For the Euro 2012 Football Championship Kalinic was not initially nominated. However, he benefited from the injury-related cancellation of Ivica Olic and was re-nominated.
