Nikolai Nikitich Demidov

Nikolai Demidov Nikititch Count (* 1773 in Saint Petersburg, † 1828) was a Russian industrialist.

Demidov managed his large mines and called for the implementation of a rational operation of numerous German officials and miners. Built in the Patriotic War of 1812, and he led a regiment at his own expense. After the peace he lived a long time in Paris and Florence, gathered at both places scholars and artists around him and used his fortune with princely generosity for charitable purposes and to promote the arts.

Demidov was married to Baroness Elizabeth Alexandrovna Stroganova (1779-1818), with whom he had two sons: Pavel Nikolayevich Demidov (1798-1840) and Anatole Demidoff di San Donato ( 1813-1870 ). The latter was his father in Florence erect a monument.
