Nikolay Khlystov

Nikolai Pavlovich Chlystow (Russian Николай Павлович Хлыстов; born November 10, 1932 in Wjaschnewka, Ryazan Oblast, † February 14, 1999 in Moscow ) was a Soviet- Russian ice hockey player.

Career

During his career, the striker played for Krylia Sovetov Moscow and belonged in the 1950s to the best strikers in the Soviet Union. With Krylia Sovetov Chlystow 1951 Cup Winners' Cup and 1957 Soviet masters. In addition, he reached with his team two more times and the Cup final in 1955, 1956 and 1956 runner-up. In all, he scored 151 goals in 250 games the Soviet league.

Internationally

Chlystow was appointed to the team of Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On 29 January 1954 he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice.

With the Sbornaja 1954 and 1956 world champion and 1955, 1957 and 1958 Vice World Champion. In 1954 he was awarded for his first world title as Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. In 1957 he was awarded the Medal of the Soviet Union for this service. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games 1956.

On November 24, 1959 he played his last international match. For the Soviet national team, he scored a total of 22 goals in 79 internationals.

After end of his career, he oversaw 1961-1964 the sports club Red October as head coach. 1996 was awarded the Russian Order of Merit for the Fatherland, second degree, and received posthumously after his death in the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame.

Chlystow died in 1999 and was buried in the cemetery Wagankowoer in Moscow.
