Nilüfer, Bursa

Nilüfer is a district of the Turkish province of Bursa and at the same time a municipality of Büyükşehir Belediyesi ( city municipality ) Bursa. The district is in the northwest of the center of Bursa.

The district is located in the northern center of the province and includes part of the city center of Bursa. It is bordered on the west by Mustafakemalpasa and Karacabey, on the northwest by Mudanya, in the north to the Sea of ​​Marmara, to the northeast of Gemlik, on the east by Gürsu, Yıldırım and Osmangazi and on the south by Orhaneli. The main town is located north of the Nilüfer E 90, which crosses the city from west to east and Bursa leads coming from Canakkale to Ankara. The highway D -575 from Bursa to Yalova runs from south to north through the circle. To the west is part of the Lake Uluabat Gölü. From east to west, the river flows through the Çayı Nilüfer district, which flows north-west of the lake in the Kocaçay flowing shortly after the Marmara Sea.

The name of the town goes back to the Nilüfer Çayı, which in turn was named after Nilüfer Hatun.

Attractions

On two hills on a spit in Uluabat Gölü are the remains of the ancient settlement of Apollonia.
