Life

Nastasia grew up in Hollywood and now lives in New York. After she started in the early nineties with the song writing, Nina Nastasia published in 2000 their first album, Dogs on the tiny label Socialist Records, recorded by Steve Albini. Only 1500 copies were originally produced, and Nastasia introduced the packaging itself together in their apartment. At the end of the year the album was out of print, but the well-known British disc jockey John Peel had received from Albini a copy of Dogs and played it several times in his shows on BBC Radio 1 With the help of Peel and Albini, the dogs in several interviews as one of the best albums praised, he had taken, the album received cult status, although it was unobtainable commercially.

The American punk label Touch and Go became aware of Nastasia By Dogs and released their next two albums, The Blackened Air ( 2002) and Run to Ruin ( 2003). Also, the debut album was re- released in 2004 Dogs. Then Nastasia moved to the English label Fat Cat Records, and in 2006 there their fourth album On Leaving was released, recorded with Steve Albini as all previous. Since Nastasia Run to Ruin had also worked with the Australian drummer Jim White of Dirty Three. During the cooperation of On Leaving White Nastasia proposed to collaborate for an album. The collaboration led to the based only on guitar and drums album You Follow Me (2007 ) and a song at the 2008 published single "What She Does not Know".

For John Peel Nastasia took six of the famous " Peel Sessions " on that last one with the tuvanischen throat singing group Huun - Huur -Tu. Two of Nastasias songs appeared in Peel's " Festive Fifty" charts of the year: "Ugly Face", in 2002 at the fourth place and "You, Her & Me" on the thirteenth place in 2003 after his death Nastasia dedicated the song "Bird of Cuzco. " Peel's memory.
