Nina Solheim

Nina Solheim (* August 4, 1979 in Busan, South Korea ) is a former Norwegian Taekwondoin that was active in the medium and heavy weight.

Born in South Korea Solheim was adopted with seven months of her Norwegian parents and grew up in Namsos, where they in the club Namsos Taekwondoklubb came to Taekwondo at age nine. At age 16, she was admitted to the Norwegian national team and coached since the power center in Oslo. Her first international title fights they played at the 1996 European Championships in Helsinki, where she was able to move into the quarterfinals. In 1999, she took in Edmonton for the first time at a World Cup finals, reaching the knockout stages. Two years later Solheim won at the 2001 World Championships in Jeju -si with bronze in the 67 kg class to their first international medal. She qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where they moved into the quarter-finals, but there had to retire injured and finally finished seventh. Successfully ran for Solheim 2006. Besides winning the title at the World Student Championships in Valencia and a World Cup victory in Bangkok they won their first European Championship bronze medal in Bonn. Also at the World Cup 2007 Solheim was able to achieve a good result to the quarterfinals with the feeder. In 2008 she won in Rome, first in the class to 72 kg its second European Championship bronze medal. Later she took part in the heavyweight over 67 kilogram her second Olympic Games in Beijing and won the greatest sporting success of their career. With two wins, they moved into the semi-finals, where they defeated Natália Falavigna scarce. In the final, she lost to María Espinoza and won the silver medal. After the games, she ended her active career.

Solheim's twin sister Mona is also a successful Taekwondo.
