Nini Theilade

Nini Arlette Theilade ( born June 15, 1915 Poerwokerto, at that time the Dutch East Indies ) is a Danish ballet dancer, and actress Ballettchoreografin.

Life and career

She was the daughter of Hans T. Theilade (1886-1965) and Joanna Catarina Theilade (1885-1941) in the colony of the Dutch East Indies, soon after, however, the family moved back to her native Denmark. Early on it was discovered her talent, she performed, among others, Anna Pavlova and Sergei Lifar on in pieces. At the age of 16, she was seen as a prima ballerina with corresponding solo scenes at the most important stages in Europe. In 1931 she met Max Reinhardt, who she narratives and the beautiful Helen did occur among others in the theater productions of Hoffmann. In 1933 she made ​​an appearance in the German film Destry Rides Again with Theo Lingen.

In the U.S., it came in 1935 with the elaborate Shakespearean adaptation A Midsummer Night's Dream to a renewed cooperation between Reinhardt and Theilade. In the film, she also took a supporting role as a fairy, which performs the same in several solo dances. From 1938 to 1940 she danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, which occurred at the Metropolitan Opera among others. Beginning of the 1940s came to Theilade in Brazil.

Later, she worked mainly in Denmark, including the Danish State Theatre. Even in old age she worked sporadically in ballet, is now popular as an interviewee.
