Nipe Bay

The Bahía de Nipe is a bay on the northern Atlantic coast in the east of Cuba, in the province of Holguín.

The bay has a maximum extension of 25.9 km long and 16.8 km wide. The total surface area is 120 km ² and the water volume 700 million cubic meters. It is considered one of the greatest natural treasures of the island with a rich flora and fauna. There are forests and wetlands on the banks. The rivers flow into the Mayari and Nipe Bay. Largest city on the shore of the bay is Antilla. The municipality of the same name is bordered on the south by the northern shore of the bay, the southern shore forms the northern boundary of the municipios Mayari. Between the bay and the Atlantic Ocean lies the nature reserve Cayo Saetía.
