Nippon Gaishi Hall

The Nagoya -shi Sogo Taiikukan (Japanese名古屋 市 総 合 体育馆, " General Sports Hall of Nagoya ."; Engl Nagoya Civic General Gymnasium) is an event complex with a covered multi-purpose stadium for 10,000 spectators in the city of Nagoya in the Japanese prefecture of Aichi. Following the sale of naming rights in 2007 to Nippon Gaishi (English NGK Insulators ) the building has since been Nippon Gaishi Sports Plaza (日本 ガイシ スポーツ プラザ, Nippon Gaishi supōtsu Puraza; engl Nippon Gaishi Hall.). Operators is the foundation ( zaidan - Hojin ) Nagoya -shi Kyoiku Sports Kyōkai, the " Society for Education and Sports of the city of Nagoya " (English Nagoya City Education and Sports Promotion Agency, shortly NESPA ), Owner City of Nagoya.

The complex of buildings in the district of Higashi- Matabēchō in the district of Nagoya Minami was completed in 1987 by the construction company Obayashi - gumi. In addition to the 3,646 square meter main hall (formerly Rainbow Hall ) it contains two smaller halls with 480 and 200 seats, a 25 -meter swimming pool, archery range and the Nippon Gaishi Forum of several meeting and conference rooms.

In addition to sporting events Sogo Taiikukan numerous concerts of famous national and international musicians have taken place. Several times it was the venue for the NHK Trophy figure skating and of international volleyball competitions, the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup and the volleyball world championships in 1998 and 2010.
