NISI MASA

NISI MASA is a European network for the promotion of New Cinema, which is composed of various clubs and organizations throughout Europe. In most countries, NISI MASA is represented by exactly one member organization, such as it is in Germany while at the Munich Film Workshop.

NISI MASA is a nonprofit organization that, among others, by the European Union ( Youth, Civil Society & MEDIA program ), the European Council, the European Cultural Foundation, the Allianz Cultural Foundation, the ' Fondation de France' and the French ' Ministère de la Santé, de la Jeunesse, des Sports et de la Vie associative " is promoted (Ministry of Health, Youth, Sports and Associations ).

NISI MASAS main objectives are the discovery of new film talent, the promotion of inter- cultural, audiovisual projects, and creating a discussion platform for young European filmmakers at which this can also participate themselves. A general goal is also to promote the European identity through theater and film.

NISI MASA has a variety of projects, such as a European Short Film Competition, various film and screenwriting workshops, film screenings, film-related conferences and seminars, and the publication of various writings of books and brochures up to our monthly newsletter ' Mas y Mas'. Time and again NISI MASA at film festivals through a daily magazine called ' Nisimazine ' in appearance, in the past, this was already the case at the Cannes Film Festival, Helsinki, Alba, Turin, Amsterdam, Tehran and Kars.

Each NISI MASA project is co-organized by doing one or more national member associations. All activities of the network are coordinated by a central European office in Paris.

Formation

NISI MASA was founded in 2001 by three film- enthusiastic friends who wanted to create a pan-European platform for intra-European cooperation between young filmmakers. Today there are 28 member organizations in 26 countries that are no longer limited only to the EU but also found in the neighboring countries are ( Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Turkey, Russia). The name NISI MASA refers to the film 8 ½ by Federico Fellini in which Marcello Mastroianni several times repeats the sentence Asa Nisi Masa. When choosing a name, then, plays both the film, an important European film classics, and the set ( Asa Nisi Masa ), a kind of magic formula that is not tied to any specific, existing language an important role both to the film and intercultural spirit of network reflect.

Main activities

NISI MASA is a network for young film. The focus of the activities are audiovisual projects where intercultural exchange plays a central function. The workshops and meetings are held here throughout the year rather than distributed in the EU and in the neighboring states, often are collaborations with film festivals.

European screenwriting contest for short films

A central goal NISI Masa is the discovery of new film talent. For this reason, an annual European screenplay competition has been held since 2002. Young people between 18 and 28 from one of the NISI MASA - member countries to submit their screenplays, which are then initially evaluated and selected nationally. In a second step decides a European jury, consisting of the NISI MASA - member countries, on the winners. The competition theme changes each year; in 2008 screenplays on " escape" (escape ) received. Since 2002, thousands of young people have participated in the competition and a dozen short films have been produced with the support NISI MASAS. The rules of the competition and more information can be found on the official website: http://www.nisimasa-scriptcontest.eu.

Film and screenplay workshops

Another important task NISI Masa is the development and continuation of cross-cultural and audiovisual projects. A common example are screenwriting workshops, where participants from all over Europe together to discuss their scripts, they (if necessary) to reformulate and incidentally learn their ideas on this intercultural, European level to enforce. They are supported by international tutors who give them individually or in a group feedback on their script and conduct brainstorming sessions with them. A central aspect of the seminars is especially intercultural cooperation, as the young people come together in short but intense periods and have to deal with different cultural backgrounds. Much of the recently held workshops also became familiar with the location of the seminar itself: in 2006 it emerged in Paris' 20 districts of twenty short films (20 Visions of Paris) and in Budapest the public spaces were at the center of the action (Budapest Squares ).
