Nocino

Nocino is a dark brown liqueur from the Emilia - Romagna region of Italy and the Ticino in southern Switzerland. Nocino is made from unripe walnuts, which is inserted a few weeks in grappa or pure alcohol and flavored with spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg or coffee beans. The walnuts are traditionally picked in St. John's Eve ( 23 on June 24 ). The aforementioned production process can vary from place to place, this is often passed on through generations from family to family.

The origin of Nocino goes back to the Middle Ages. Only monks at that time possessed the knowledge for the production of Nocino and the drink was consumed by the parties involved major contracts.
