Nocturnal Walks

Nocturnal Walks (also Plimbări Nocturne, Nocturnal Walks ) is the title of an orchestral composition by Franz Koglmann from the year 2007. The piece is subtitled "Thoughts twilight themes by Joseph Haydn, the original voice of EM Cioran ". It is furnished for flute, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, contrabassoon, two trumpets, flugelhorn, trombone, tuba, two violins, viola, cello, accordion, drums, and vibraphone, plus the voice of Cioran.

Koglmann " received a commission for the European Capital of Culture in 2007, Sibiu / Hermannstadt. " There the piece on 18 May 2007 with the ensemble was exxj ... ensemble xx. century premiered under the baton of Peter Burwik as well as with the composer as soloist on trumpet and flugelhorn; an " advance screening " was held in Schloss Schönbrunn on 16 May 2007.

Koglmann in his composition all threads from Haydn's Symphony No. 27 in G major ( " Symphony of Sibiu ") is used, in part, in original form, but partly also varies and in other harmonies and rhythms. The piece has hard mounting sections, which, according to an interview of the composer " and the meaning has to bring the ambivalence of Cioran to express the one hand was a total skeptic, on the other hand quite a fun-loving and not at all dejected man." The leaked voice Cioran comes from radio interviews; Cioran spent in Sibiu his youth and moved there supposedly often sleepless nights.
