Noel Harrison

Noel Harrison ( born January 29, 1934 in London, United Kingdom; † 19 or October 20, 2013 in Devon, England ) was an English singer, actor, and Olympic skier. He was the son of British actor Sir Rex Harrison and his first wife Collette Thomas.

Family

Noel Harrison had several children, Cathryn, Simon, Harriet, Chloe and Will. His brother was Carey Harrison. The equestrian athletes Leslie Law was his son.

Youth

As a teenager he was a member of the Ipswich Repertory Theatre Group, taught himself to play the guitar at autodikatisch, but his main interest was sports. Much of his spare time he spent with skiing in Switzerland. Early on, he became a member of the British Ski Team and in 1953 was the first time British national champion in giant slalom. He represented Great Britain at the Olympic Winter Games 1952 in Oslo, Norway and the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d' Ampezzo, Italy.

Harrison completed his military service, and played to become a journalist after leaving the army with the idea. Essentially, however, he concentrated on his guitar playing. His early breakthrough came with the regular appearance on the BBC show Tonight, in the collaborated part of the team, which among other things the daily news in the Calypso style singing.

At the age of 20 he became a professional musician, including a Greek restaurant in London. He also had live performances in bars and nightclubs across Europe, including appearances at the Blue Angel club where a show was recorded for a live album.

Death

Harrison died after a heart attack at his home in Devon, (England), a few hours after appearing on the evening of October 19, 2013.
