Noi Trotsky

Noi Abramovich Trozki (born 15 Märzjul / March 27 1895greg in Saint Petersburg, .. † November 19, 1940 in Leningrad ) was a Russian- Soviet architect.

Life

Noi Trozki was born on 15 March 1895 in Saint Petersburg. His father was a translator. Trozki took art lessons with the famous painter Nikolai Roerich. From 1913 he attended the Academy of Arts, where he graduated this after a few interruptions of his studies in 1921. Among his teachers at the Academy was, inter alia, the architect Ivan Fomin. 1923 Trozki was 28 years professor at the Academy of Arts. He died on November 19, 1940 in his hometown.

Working as an architect in Leningrad

Noi Trozki was both a representative of constructivism, which was initially as the official art style of the Russian Revolution, but later also projected objects in the style of socialist realism. An example of his work as an architect of constructivism is the administrative building of the Kirowski Rajon ( a district of Leningrad), written in the years 1930-35. A little later, 1936-41, the ensemble of the Moscow square was built in the south of Leningrad in the style of Socialist Realism or Socialist Classicism according to his plans. The mighty House of Soviets (Russian: Дом Советов ) occupies a total area of ​​about 52 600 square meters. Its facade resembles with its classical columns the administrative buildings in many cities of the former Soviet Union, however, its dimension after is unique.
