Noil

Noil (French bourrette, bourre: Füllhaar, Flock ) is a silk yarn, which is extracted from the waste silk waste spinning. The short fibers ( max. 60 mm) are heavily infiltrated with nodules, which makes the medium fine to coarse Bourettegarn dull and rough. The silk fabric by Noil or Seidenwergspinnerei obtained in the two-cylinder method is similar to linen and is mainly used as decoration fabric and textiles.

Properties

In contrast to reel silk, which is handled in a long thread from silkworm cocoons and silk waste, which consists of long silk fibers, Noil can not be completely cleaned from the silk gum. The silk gum holds the cocoons of the silkworm and is also responsible for the characteristic odor, which remains of silk waste.

Characteristic of Noil is also the knobby, interspersed with nodules structure. These properties make the fabric for the fashion industry rather uninteresting. Due to the high content of silk gum tissue, however, an anti-inflammatory effect is said. Use therefore finds Bourette frequently in the production of baby diapers and breast pads.
