Nolan County, Texas

The Nolan County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) located in Sweetwater.

Geography

The County is located about 60 km north-west of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2367 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Fisher County, Taylor County, Runnels County, Coke County and Mitchell County.

History

Nolan County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Philip Nolan, one of the first dealers and horse breeder, who was killed by Spanish troops in 1801.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Nolan County 15 802 people in 6,170 households and 4,288 families. The population density was 7 people per square kilometer.
