Nong Khaem District

Nong Khaem ( Thai: หนองแขม ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Nong Khaem forms a suburban district in the far west of the urban area.

Geography

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Thawi Watthana, Bang Khae, Bang Bon, Amphoe Krathum Baen Samut Sakhon Province, Amphoe Sam Phran and Amphoe Phutthamonthon of Nakhon Pathom province.

History

The name of the district consists of two Thai words: Nong, which means wetland and Khaem with the meaning reed (Phragmites Karka ), a plant that describes how the environment in the past has looked back then.

The district was established as Amphoe Nong Khaem in 1902. In 1938 he was one of the King Amphoe Amphoe Charoen Phasi to be collected 20 years later, again in the status Amphoe. He was a Khet Bangkok through administrative reform of 1972. In 1998 the eastern part of Nong Khaem was added to the newly created district of Bang Khae.

Facts

  • On February 15, 1972, the Thai President Foods was founded, which from 1973 in a factory in Khet Nong Khang Phlu District Nong Khaem the first instant noodle soup of the now world-famous brand " MAMA " produced. After you could reap in the years 1982, 1983 and 1984 awards for "outstanding high quality food products ," the old factory in Nong Khaem was too small.
