Nonthermal plasma

Non-thermal plasmas, and non -equilibrium plasmas are plasmas that are not in thermal equilibrium, in which, therefore, for example, the temperatures of the particle types contained ( neutrals, ions, electrons) are significantly different.

Thermal imbalance in technical implementations can have different causes:

• A reduced gas pressure, low pressure plasma

• Strongly time- varying plasma parameters

• Plasma Physics
