Norbert Haug

Norbert Friedrich Haug ( * November 24, 1952 in Angel Fire Grunbach, Baden- Württemberg ) is a German journalist, who was from 1990 until the end of 2012 Motorsport Head of Mercedes -Benz.

Beginnings as a journalist

Haug began his career in 1973 as a volunteer in the " Pforzheimer Zeitung ", then moved on in 1975 as a journalist for Motor-Presse -Verlag in Stuttgart. A year later, he was Head of the Sport for the magazine Auto Motor und Sport. There he was in 1988 appointed deputy editor in chief, after he and 1987 interim editor of the journal from 1985 sports car.

Head of Motorsport at Mercedes- Benz

In 1990 he moved to Daimler -Benz AG, where he became the new Head of Motorsport. At the beginning cared Haug stakes in Group C, and later in the DTM and ITC. In particular, the DTM drivers 'title for Klaus Ludwig in 1992 and 1994 and the DTM and ITC drivers' title from Bernd Schneider in 1995 were the highlights of the first year Norbert Haug as Mercedes motorsport boss. Re-entry into Formula 1 with Sauber

Under the leadership of Norbert Haug, Mercedes- Benz rose again after nearly 40 years in the Formula 1. First, the former Mercedes- partner Peter Sauber started alone in Formula 1; on the cars of the 1993 season was only Concept by Mercedes -Benz. A year later, in 1994, the team was known officially as Sauber-Mercedes. The heavy casualties of Karl Wendlinger in training for the Monaco Grand Prix was the low point of the season. Others

In addition to its involvement in Formula 1 Haug was active as head of motorsport Mercedes- Benz in the DTM. Since there is no overlap the dates of the Formula 1 and DTM race, Haug was also present in most DTM race.

Haug drove the Porsche Carrera Cup race itself; he knows the scene thus both a driver manager and as a journalist. He is married and has one daughter. Norbert Haug is currently in a relationship with Anne Wis.

After Motorsport

In October 2013 it was announced that Norbert Haug will head the globalization program of Paravan Technology Group, a specialist provider of disabled vehicle conversions from Pfronstetten.
