Norberto Scoponi

Norberto Hugo Scoponi ( born January 13, 1961 in Rosario ) is a former Argentine football goalkeeper. At club level for a long time at Newell 's Old Boys active and there also very successful, he also took part in the Football World Cup 1994 in the U.S. with the national team of his native country.

Club career

Norberto Scoponi, born 1961 in Rosario, the third largest city of Argentina, began playing football in the youth divisions of the resident association CA Newell 's Old Boys, where he was eventually incorporated into the first team in 1982 at the age of 21. In the following twelve years, until 1994, the goalkeeper now played for Newell's Old Boys, and quite successfully. Without ever having played one match for the national team of his native country, national coach Alfio Basile nominated the keeper of Newell 's Old Boys for the football World Cup 1994 in the United States. In the tournament, however Scoponi was only third choice behind Sergio Goycochea and Luis Islas, and was not used.
