The University of Applied Sciences ( FH) Nordhausen - University of Applied Sciences (also: FHN ) was established in its current form in 1997 and is located in Nordhausen, Thuringia. The total number of students was most recently (winter semester 2012/ 13) at 2461 students.

History

Planning for a college in North Thuringia led in 1997 to the founding of the University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen. However, the terrain of the vineyard has been a past history until 1906 with various educational institutions. His time was the decision of the Saxon county council to build a country boarding school, which was opened in 1910 and was partially destroyed during the bombing of Nordhausen in April 1945. In 1951 the school » Technical School of Agriculture " was, from 1956 to 1994 then known as " Engineering School of Agricultural Engineering ," founded on the premises.

Established by decision of the Parliament of Thuringia in 1997, took the university in 1998 their trial operation. Are offered modern and application-oriented programs that are geared to the needs of the labor market situation.

Study

The curriculum comprises ten bachelor degree programs and five master's degree programs in the two fields of engineering sciences and economic and social sciences. In addition to the classical subjects the college also offers a dual degree ( NOKOMO - Nordhäuser combined model). Within four years, a professional and college degree is possible. Here, a bachelor's program combines business administration with accounting apprenticeships. The offer is supplemented by other courses in the winter semester 2013/14.

Research

With the August Kramer Institute ( LCI) has the Fachhochschule Nordhausen since the beginning of 2006 on an engineering teaching and research institution. The working fields are divided into the three main areas of energy systems, materials and process engineering and geoengineering.

The in.RET - Institute for Renewable energy technology is to support companies and organizations through consulting, energy research and education. It organizes the bachelor's degree Renewable energy technology and energy- technical profiling directions within the Master's program in Systems Engineering.

Still under construction, the institute for computer science, automation and electronics are (IAE ). As a teaching and research institution it covers the areas of computer science, web technology, automation technology and electronics at FH Nordhausen.

Furthermore, it is January 22, 2013, the Institute for Social Medicine, Rehabilitation Sciences and Health Services Research ( ISRV ) at FH Nordhausen. The emphasis is on research in the areas of rehabilitative, therapeutic, social work, special education, Transdisciplinary Early Intervention, systemic counseling and therapy.

The sensory laboratory is engaged in the field of sensory product research. The relationship between product components and the sensory impressions is here focused.

Events on campus

On the grounds of FH Nordhausen campus festival takes place every year since 2001 in the summer instead, which is organized by the student club lockup. For this program include sports tournaments, demonstrations and live music on several stages and in different genres. The size of the campus festival moves between 2000 and 3000 visitors.

The Long Night of Sciences is to provide an entertaining way scientific topics and information on what happens in free visitable lectures, demonstrations and workshops. The first Long Night of Sciences was held on 11 October 2006. This was followed by events in 2007, 2009 and 2011, each of which attracted 2500-5000 visitors.
