Nordjyske Jernbaner

Nordjyske Jernbaner is a Danish rail transport company based in Hjørring.

History

The Nordjyske Jernbane emerged in January 2001 through a merger of Company A / S Hjørring Privatbaner and Skagensbanen A / S. The newly created company was first held by the municipality, and on January 1, 2007, a subsidiary of North Jutland Trafikselskab, which holds 89 % of the shares of the company. Since the establishment of the route network has been extensively modernized and renewed the vehicle park.

Infrastructure

Nordjyske Jernbaner currently operates two routes, these are the Skagensbanen between Skagen and Frederikshavn with a length of 38.8 km, and the Hirtshalsbanen between Hjørring and Hirtshals with a length of 17.8 km.

The Skagensbanen was incorporated into the new company of the Skagensbanen A / S and the Hirtshalsbanen of the A / S Hjørring Privatbaner.
