Norris Bowden

Robert Norris Bowden ( born August 13, 1926 in Toronto, † April 9, 1991 ) was a Canadian figure skater, who started pair skating internationally.

Bowden's skating partner was Frances Dafoe. The pair won from 1952 to 1955 four Canadian titles. From 1952 to 1956 she participated in the World Championships. 1953 and 1956 they were runner-up and 1954 in Oslo and 1955 in Vienna champion. It was the first world championship for Canada in the pairs figure skating. At the Olympic Winter Games 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo Bowden and Dafoe won the silver medal. They were subject to scarce and highly controversial Austrians Sissy Schwarz and Kurt Oppelt.

Bowden and Dafoe were the first pair of rotary heave and throw jumps.

In the men's singles Bowden 1947 Canadian champion. In ice dancing, he was Canadian champion in 1952 with Frances Dafoe.

Bowden was the figure skating as a judge. He worked in the life insurance sector. Later he founded a center for disabled children.
