The North Charleston Coliseum is a multi-purpose hall in the city of North Charleston of the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is a part of the North Charleston Convention Center Complex. Opened in 1993 the building has a maximum of 14,500 seats ( 11,000 permanently installed seats and 3,500 portable seats). The Performing Arts & Convention Center with 2,300 seats and the North Charleston Convention Center complemented the complex in 1999.

History

The arena is home to the 1993 NCAA basketball team the Charleston Southern Buccaneers of Charleston Southern University of the ECHL ice hockey team in the South Carolina Stingrays and. Former Users of the North Charleston Coliseum are the arena football team Charleston Swamp Foxes ( AF2 ) from 2000 to 2003 that were Charleston Lowgators the NBA D -League from 2001 to 2004 and from 2006 to 2008, the Carolina Sand Sharks ( NifL ) resident of. The multi-purpose hall was the venue for the final tournaments of the Big South Conference NCAA Basketball 1993 and 1994 and the Southern Conference NCAA Basketball 2007.

At the start of construction no Hockey area was provided in the Arena, the city of North Charleston was awarded the hockey franchise in the ECHL. So we had to reschedule and the South Carolina Stingrays were able to play from the start in the hall.
