North Tower (lighthouse)

The lighthouse Noordertoren on the Dutch Wadden Sea island of Schiermonnikoog has no official name is, but mostly with Noordertoren ( German: North Tower ) denotes. The former second Lighthouse on Schiermonnikoog was the Zuidertoren ( German: South Tower ). The Noordertoren was built in the years 1853 to 1854 of brick and stone, it has a height of 37 m, thus resulting in a height of 44 m for the beacon. The tower is equipped with radar since 1979 and staffed 24 hours a day. Since 1980 he is a listed building, 1998, he was painted red. For coastal shipping from the tower a weather report will be sent.
