Northern Qi

The Northern Qi Dynasty (Chinese北齐, Pinyin For Qi; 550-577 ) was one of the Northern Dynasties during the period of the Southern and Northern dynasties of Chinese history and ruled northern China from 550 to 577

It was the successor of the Eastern Wei. The kingdoms of northern Qi and the Northern Zhou were so successor states of Tabgatsch Empire, as the highest -General of the Eastern Wei Gao Huan his sons Gao Cheng and Gao Yang followed were who occupied the throne of yuan Shanjian in the year 550, and the Northern Qi as their Emperor Wenxuan founded. Because the state of the Northern Qi was plagued by violent and / or incompetent emperors ( Emperor Wenxuan, Emperor Wucheng and Gao Wei), corrupt officials and ramshackle armies, he was, although he was at its inception, the strongest of the three main Chinese states (along with the Northern Zhou and Chen Dynasty ) gradually weakened and eventually destroyed by the Northern Zhou in 577. Kaiser Wenxuans son Gao Shaoyi, the Prince of Fanyang, ( Tujue in Chinese sources ) explained later under protection of the Kok - Turks exiled Emperor of Northern Qi, but in 579 he was handed over by the Turks in the Northern Zhou, and he went to Sichuan into exile.

It is discussed whether Gao Shaoyi can be strictly regarded as emperor of Northern Qi, but in any case is considered by historians as the definitive end of the Northern Qi the year 577.
