Northern Teppichhai ( Orectolobus wardi )
The Northern Teppichhai ( Orectolobus wardi ) is a Genuine shark from the family of carpet sharks ( Orectolobidae ). He lives in the Western Pacific off the northern coast of Australia.
Features
The type is flat with a broad head and body and reaches a length of 63 cm, an unconfirmed sighting reported by 100 cm. Around the maxillary barbels and she wears skin flap, which, unlike those of other species of carpet sharks, do not branch. On the back it carries, as compared to other carpet sharks rather inconspicuous, dark saddles, between the saddles there are no other drawings.
Way of life
The Northern Teppichhai lives in close to the coast, mostly in brackish shallow water at depths of about 3 m. He hunts at night probably ground-dwelling mollusks and small fish, about his diet but nothing definite is known. During the day he usually hides under rock ledges. The species is ovoviviparous.
