Norwegian Data Protection Authority

Datatilsynet is the national Data Protection Authority of Norway based in Oslo.

It is independent and has existed since 1980 rights and labor basis of Datatilsynet is the law on personal data. (Norwegian: personopplysningsloven ) from the year 2000 Their duties include keeping a file that contains all licensed manufacturing processes, control privacy compliance of. laws and the cooperation with national and international data protection authorities.

Director of Datatilsynet since 1989 Georg Apenes. Its predecessor was Helge Seip, who from 1980 headed the authority until 1989.

Datatilsynet is a member of the International Conference of Data Protection Commissioner and the protection of privacy.
