Norwegian Red

Norwegian Red Cattle is a Norwegian breed of cattle house. The reddish to black animals with bright spots represent the dominant cattle breed in Norway and are mainly used for milk and beef production. As a separate breed Norwegian cattle was established in 1935, which were recruited from crosses of older Norwegian breeds with the Swedish Red Cattle and the Finnish Ayrshire. Even today selected bulls of these two master races also be used for breeding.

The maintenance and continuation of the breeding of the Norwegian Rotviehs is haunted by the ranchers association Geno. For this purpose, it be maintained and carried out cattle shows. The herd-books are grouped in a national studbook register. In this herd books all data, particularly on health and veterinary examinations of cows are kept.

The seeds of the Norwegian Rotviehs is exported to over 20 countries worldwide.
