Notre-Dame-d'Auteuil

The Paris parish church Notre -Dame d' Auteuil was completed in 1884. It is built in a Romanesque- Byzantine style. In particular, it is known for its Cavaillé -Coll organ

History

Until 1877 Auteuil had a church, whose origins dated back to the 12th century. From 1877 to 1884 the new church was built. The architect was Émile Vaudremer, who had also planned St- Pierre de Montrouge. The price was 844,000 francs. In 1892 it was consecrated.

Architecture

It is 63 m long and 50 m high. It is built (sometimes disparagingly called gingerbread style ) in the Neo-Byzantine and Romanesque- Byzantine style and is similar to the Sacré -Coeur or the parish church of Saint -Pierre- de -Montrouge. At the entrance is a statue of Mary Henri -Charles Manigliers. Inside, the church is inspired by the Hagia Sophia and the Cathedral of Perigueux.

Organ

The organ was built by Aristide Cavaillé -Coll. She has 53 stops (71 ranks of pipes ) on three manuals and pedal with electric play and stop action.
