Notrim

The noTrim ( Aramaic נוטרים " The Guardian " ) was a Jewish police force in the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine.

After the outbreak of the Arab uprising in April 1936, the British Mandate authorities realized that they could not protect the Jewish settlements. Therefore, founded the noTrim who were trained, armed and paid by the British.

The noTrim was divided into two departments, the Jewish Supernumerary Police and the highly mobile Jewish Settlement Police. Members of the police force were mainly recruited from the Haganah.

After the Second World War, the noTrim formed the core of the newly formed Israeli Military Police.
