Notum

The term Notum ( from Ancient Greek νῶτον Noton " back " ) referred to in insects the front sclerotized ( hardened ) part of the Tergum. The Nota of the three segments of the thorax hot from front to back pronotum ( front chest), mesonotum (center chest) and metanotum ( lower breast ). A Tergum is the dorsal ( back side ) part of a body segment to the pleura. In many cases both terms are also used interchangeably. Each secondary defined by the Notum district is called tergite, such as pronotum ( Proscutum ) and tag ( scutellum ). In particular segments of the abdomen, the term Tergit is often used for the entire Notum.
