Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development

The Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development is a non-profit organization part of the Corporate Responsibility portfolio of Novartis, based in Basel ( Switzerland ). History

The humanitarian commitment of Novartis Foundation dates back to the 1960s, when the Basel industrial company Ciba Geigy, Sandoz, Durand & Huguenin, Hoffmann -La Roche and Lonza founded the Basel Foundation for Developing Countries. The Basel Foundation for example, supported the field laboratory of the Swiss Tropical Institute (now Tanzanian Training Centre for International Health ) in Ifakara, with which the Novartis Foundation works closely today.

Projects

The Novartis Foundation supports development projects in the health sector in Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. The third area, the Foundation seeks to promote the development policy dialogue between the private sector, NGOs, research institutions and government institutions. To this end, the Foundation conducts an annual international symposium in Basel.
