Nové Zámky District

The Okres Nové Zámky is an administrative region in the south of Slovakia with a population of 148 001 (2004, 2001, there were 149 594, of which 89 051 ( 59.5 %), Slovak and 57 271 ( 38.3%) Hungarian) and an area of 1,347 km ².

To the north it borders on the districts of Nitra and Levice, in the eastern most part again at the Levice district and Hungary to the south on to Hungary and to the district Komárno and in the west to the district Šaľa. He is one of the largest and most populous districts of Slovakia.

Historically the district lies largely in the former county Neutra (north), a smaller part to the south and between the towns Dvory nad Žitavou and Støekov part of the former county Komárom, the northeastern part of Veľké Lovce the former county bars, most of in the east to the county Gran and a small part of the county to Salka Hont. For Okres also includes the area of the 1960 resolution Okres Štúrovo.
