Nowendoc-Nationalpark

The Nowendoc National Park is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of New South Wales, 375 km north of Sydney, 70 km south of Walcha, and just west of the small town Nowendoc.

The park on the eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range is wild rock steps country that is dominated by eucalyptus forests. Along the rivers there is also something rainforest. Through the park flows the Myall Creek and the Callaghan Creek, headwaters of the Barnard River.

Access roads and facilities

All access roads are unpaved, winding and sometimes very steep. For mobile homes, they are unsuitable. The park consists of two parts: the greater part can Thunderbolts Way from the north-west of Nowendoc from be achieved and includes the campsite Myall Creek and the Callaghan Canyon. The smaller portion in the southeast with Wright's hat is accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles and only if one gets the key for the access gate to the south of Nowendoc by the National Park Service. The smaller, forest -lined section of the park is located on the Miller Road.

At Myall Creek comes in a tall eucalyptus forest a simply equipped campsite with a wood-fired barbecue grill, but otherwise no other facilities. This area and the area around Wright's hat can be reached with dry weather and all-wheel drive vehicles. Self- hikers can explore there worth seeing, small waterfalls and rainforest. Further away from the campsite, there are remarkable canyons, waterfalls and larger cultural sites.
