Nowogrodziec

Nowogrodziec [ nɔvɔgrɔʥɛʦ ] (Eng. Naumburg am Queis ) is a small town in Lower Silesia in the western part of Poland - located on the eastern shore of the Queis approximately 120 km west of Wrocław. The powiat the Boleslawiecki nationals urban and rural municipality has approximately 15,000 inhabitants (of which in the city of 4,000 to EUR 16.17 km ²) and is a member of the euro region Neisse.

History

As a city Naumburg was founded by Silesia at the ford of the northern high road through the Queis and provided with Magdeburg Rights in 1233 by Duke Henry I. In the town consisted of 13 century a monastery of the Magdalene gutters from which only ruins remain. Until 1815 Naumburg border city was at the Upper Lusatia. In addition to the cloth-making mainly pottery was produced in Naumburg. The city was the Silesian pottery town and lay in the importance and size of the guild long before the better-known for its pottery Boleslawiec. In 1938 incorporated the district Ołdrzychów ( Ullersdorf am Queis ) is the last of Electoral Saxony Postmeilensäule with the No. 112 (counting from Leipzig) in the course of the Via Regia, near the old border of Upper Lusatia and Silesia ( Queis Bridge ), in the form of an all- mile column of 1725, which was restored on the occasion of the EU accession of Poland in 2004.
