Nowy Gierałtów

Nowy Gieraltów (formerly Nowy Miłobądz, German Neugersdorf; formerly New Gersdorf ) is a village in the south of the powiat Kłodzki in the Province of Lower Silesia in Poland. It is located eight kilometers south-west of Lądek -Zdrój ( Bad Landeck ) and belongs to the rural community Stronie Śląskie (page Berg).

Geography

Nowy Gieraltów located in the southeast of the Glatzer boiler in the upper Bieletal. To the east, the border with the Czech Republic, the southwest mountains Biel is the 1083 m high Black Mountain ( Czernica ). Neighboring towns are Bielice in the south and Goszów and Stary Gieraltów in the northwest. Across the border lie the villages Hraničky ( frontier village ) in the north, Petrovice ( Petersdorf ) in the east and Kamenné (stone base ) in the southeast. Also south-east rises the 957 m high Spitzberg ( Spičák ).

History

Neugersdorf was created in 1581 by the Chief Woodruff County Glatz, Leonhard Verldhammer, on royal ground. It was initially referred to as Upper Gersdorf, for the year 1631 the spelling Neugirßdorf is occupied. It belonged to the Landeck district and was in the possession of the Bohemian chamber. After the Silesian Wars, it coincided with the county of Glatz in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg to Prussia. After the reorganization of Prussia belonged since 1815 to the province of Silesia and was first incorporated into the county of Glatz. 1818 was reclassified in the newly formed district Habelschwerdt to which it belonged until 1945. 1874 District Gersdorf was formed, which included the rural communities Neugersdorf, Biel village, Gompersdorf, Mühlbach and Altgersdorf. Due to its mountainous location, Neugersdorf developed from the early 19th century became a popular recreation and winter sports. 1939 counted 422 inhabitants.

As a result of World War II Neugersdorf 1945 as almost all of Silesia fell to Poland and was renamed in Nowy Gieraltów. The German population was expelled. The new inhabitants were partly displaced persons from eastern Poland. Many of them left in the coming decades Nowy Gieraltów again, so many houses and farms were left to decay. In the 1990s, the population was less than a quarter of the population of 1939. Nowy Gieraltów 1975-1998 belonged to the province Wałbrzych.

Attractions

  • The parish church of St. John the Baptist was built from 1715 to 1734. It has a Baroque interior. With the story " church in the woods angle" you put the theologian Joseph Wittig a literary monument.
