Nozeroy

Nozeroy is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté. It is the capital of the canton in the Arrondissement Nozeroy Lons -le- Saunier.

Geography

Nozeroy is located on 792 m above sea level. M., about ten kilometers east-northeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The town extends in the Jura, on a hill in Val de Mièges, between the lowlands of Serpentine in the north and in the south Settière.

History

The Nozeroy founded in the Middle Ages was the center of a barony, the Val de Mièges included and belonged to the lords of Chalon - Arlay. In the 13th century the castle was built.
