Ntungamo District
Ntungamo is a district (municipality) in South-West Uganda with 398 324 inhabitants. Like almost all 78 districts of Uganda, he is named after its chief town.

Geography
Ntungamo borders the districts of Kabale in the south, Rukingiri in the West, Bushenyi and Mbarara Mbarara District in the north and in the east, and the States Tanzania and Rwanda in the southeast.
The Igurua is with 1852 meters one of the highest mountains in the country (see list of mountains or elevations in Uganda).

Population
Demography
In the district of 192 135 men live (equivalent to 41.7 %) and 206 189 women (equivalent to 58.3 %). 99.1 % of the population of Ntungamo lives in the country and only 0.9% in the city (as of Census 1991). The fertility rate is seven children, and the average life expectancy of 52 years. The infant mortality rate is 9.7% and the mortality rate at 0.5%.
Economy and infrastructure
Agriculture
Main industry is agriculture, in 85 % of the population work. Especially Matooke and beans are grown. Coffee is the main crop. Livestock production is mainly in the sub- counties of Ngoma, Rweikiniro, Rugarama, Rubaare and Rukoni.
Traffic
The district has two main roads, of which paved a. He is about six hours drive from the capital Kampala.
