Nueva Gerona

Nueva Gerona is a city on the Cuban island Isla de la Juventud. It is the capital of the special administrative region Isla de la Juventud. In the city itself, 69 976 people live while the whole island counts 84 751 inhabitants ( census 2012).

Nueva Gerona was founded in 1830 by American pioneers. Even today there are an American cemetery in the city.
