Nueve de Julio Department, Chaco

The department Nueve de Julio is located in the west of the province of Chaco in the north- western Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the department of Almirante Brown, in the north- east by the Department of General Belgrano, on the east by the department of O'Higgins, to the south by the Department of Chacabuco and to the west by the province of Santiago del Estero.

The capital of the department of Nueve de Julio is Las Breñas. It is located 235 km from the provincial capital Resistencia and 1130 km from Buenos Aires.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population of the department increased from 26,955 inhabitants (2001) to 27 806 inhabitants in 2005.
