Nyangana

Nyangana (1018 m ) is a village in the constituency Ndiyona, Kavango region -east, north-eastern Namibia. With the surrounding settlements Kangweru and Magongo Nyangana comes to around 1000 inhabitants. Nyangana is located on the south bank of the Okavango, above the fertile countryside, around 80 kilometers east of the town of Rundu, 10 km west of lying on the Angolan side community Diricu.

History

Nyangana was founded on May 21 in 1909 when Joseph Gotthardt, who later became Bishop of Windhoek, the first Roman Catholic mission station of the Kavango and named after the Gciriku King Nyangana Thomas ( 1879-1924 ). In the 1960s, also from the Roman Catholic Church, a hospital and a youth center were established in Namibia.
